COVID Rapid Test Kits for Small Business Made Available Through New Partnership

A new partnership between Paychex and HireRight will allow small businesses to administer COVID-19 testing in the workplace. The new service will allow Paychex customers to order large or small batches of rapid COVID-19 test kits. According to Paychex, these kits will give business results within 15 to 30 minutes after you take the test.

As new variants of COVID-19 continue to emerge, testing is one of the best ways to keep small business employees safe. And with a quick test that delivers results in 30 minutes or less, owners can make a quick decision on how to proceed with hiring. In addition, it can address any compliance obligations that companies may have to comply with.

Paychex addresses this issue by simplifying a process that can be unnecessarily complex and cumbersome. This includes purchasing test kits as well as tracking data in an efficient manner. As Tom Hammond, Paychex’s vice president of corporate strategy and product management, said in the statement, the goal is to identify shortcomings and support companies as they confront these challenges. Adding, “Through a combination of Paychex Flex technology-enhanced functionality and HireRight’s test suites, we help companies address critical safety issues that affect their workplace.”

Paychex also has a publicly available Paychex COVID-19 Help Center which includes changing legislation, federal regulations, and government legislation related to COVID-19.

Additional tools currently available in Paychex Flex include:

  • Health Authentication: Also available in Paychex Flex Document Management, it allows employers to customize and digitally distribute an automated certification form to employees, securely store responses in real time, and view advanced analytics to individuals or an entire workforce.
  • Immunization Status Tracking: Taking advantage of self-service, employers can ask employees to upload a digital copy of their vaccination card with tracking capabilities that allow officials to track the status of their application.
  • COVID-19 Leave Tracking: Enables administrators to identify and track the issue presented by the employee through the HR Connect feature of Paychex Flex. After submitting the status, administrators can be asked to indicate whether the issue is related to COVID-19 and whether or not the employee has requested time off.

COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates

States are challenging vaccine mandates to administer Biden. And since the US Supreme Court is currently hearing oral arguments in two cases on an emergency basis on the matter, time will tell how small businesses will have to handle the mandates.

In one case — NFIB v. OSHA — plaintiffs argue that the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 did not explicitly authorize OSHA to hijack companies to carry out a vaccine or testing mandate. This can affect about 84 million Americans.

They also argued that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was required to use regular notice and suspension procedures in place of emergency legislation. This requirement by the Administrative Procedures Act ensures that general rules are set by the executive agencies that are considered and take all matters into account.

The second case — Biden v. Missouri — looks to block the mandate of a vaccine by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services under Medicare and Medicaid laws for health care workers.
