Couple Goes Viral for Feeding Stranded Motorists With Help of Bread Truck

Drivers were stranded on I-95 in Virginia for more than 24 hours earlier this week due to unsafe driving conditions and delays caused by snowy and icy weather.

Many were left without food, water and warmth as conditions deteriorated overnight, leaving many starving, freezing and struggling to survive the night.

But one pair of stranded freaks go wild for good after calling a baking company when they see a truck stranded in front of them.

Casey Houlihan and John Noy noticed the bread truck in front of them after they had not eaten for more than 24 hours and decided to call the number on the side of the car.

“We were searching on social media, we know a lot of people are stuck here, some for over 24 hours. My wife and I were sitting behind a Schmidt bread truck, I called them and told them about the situation,” Noe said. CBS News. “The truck owner told the driver to open it up and start distributing food to people. So, I’m just trying to help.”

The couple, who had been driving from Maryland to North Carolina before getting stranded in Virginia, began distributing loaves of bread to 50 cars.

The Schmidt Baking Company, based in Baltimore, Maryland, tweeted kind words after the act of kindness.

“If you have to be stuck behind a truck, make it a bread truck,” hmm sarcastic. “We are happy to give some people a little love and a lot of loaves.”

Houlihan and Nu were met with praise and encouragement on social media.

“I haven’t been in a lot of these situations, but there’s just something about getting stuck in some horrible scenarios with people you don’t know where you lose sight of all the unimportant things and just want to get through it all together,” one user books on Twitter. “beautiful.”

State traffic and transportation officials shut down I-95 in the state before law enforcement vehicles were finally dispatched to help stranded drivers.
